The 5 World's Longest Asphalt Roads🛣️

1. Pan-American Highway (North and South America)

Spanning over 19,000 miles (30,000 km) from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Ushuaia in Argentina, the Pan-American Highway holds the title of the world’s longest motorable road. This vast network of asphalt roads connects nearly all the mainland countries of the Americas, taking travellers through diverse landscapes and climates.

2. Trans-Siberian Highway (Russia)

Extending approximately 6,800 miles (11,000 km) from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, the Trans-Siberian Highway is the longest continuous stretch of asphalt in Russia. This epic route takes you through the heart of Siberia, offering stunning views of forests, mountains, and vast open spaces.

3. Highway 1 (Australia)

Encircling the entire continent, Highway 1 covers about 14,500 miles (23,000 km) and is the longest national highway in the world. This asphalt road connects major cities and remote areas alike, providing a comprehensive tour of Australia’s varied landscapes, from tropical rainforests to arid deserts.

4. The Trans-Canada Highway (Canada)

At approximately 4,860 miles (7,821 km), the Trans-Canada Highway is one of the world's longest continuous roads. This asphalt artery stretches from St. John’s in Newfoundland to Victoria in British Columbia, traversing the diverse terrains of Canada, including prairies, forests, and mountain ranges.

5. Interstate 90 (United States)

Interstate 90, or I-90, is the longest Interstate Highway in the United States, spanning around 3,020 miles (4,860 km) from Seattle, Washington, to Boston, Massachusetts. This asphalt road cuts across the northern part of the country, passing through 13 states and offering a cross-section of American scenery.

Bonus: A Nod to the UK

Although the UK doesn’t boast roads as long as those mentioned above, it has its own iconic asphalt stretches. The M6 is the UK’s longest motorway, running about 232 miles (373 km) from Rugby to the Scottish border. It’s a critical part of the British road network, connecting major cities and providing a vital transport route across the country.
